AGMARK was established under the Agriculture Produce (Grading and marking) Act of India, 1937 ( amended in 1986), while FSSAI was established under the Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006
AGMARK is a certification mark used on agricultural products only in India to conform to Agricultural Products Act of 1986. AG (Agriculture) MARK(Certification Mark). AGMARK lays out the standards for over 200 commodities and Directorate of Marketing & Inspection, Government of India acts as Certifying Agency to Certify product conformity. The Department of Agriculture & Co-operation that is a division of Directorate of Marketing & Inspection; implement agricultural policies; training of personnel in agricultural; promoting good storage practices; Agricultural Reforms; and promoting awareness.
