Maharashtra’s women farmers are sowing seeds of entrepreneurship

For years, many women farmers in the drought-prone Marathwada region of Maharashtra have been cultivating pulses and vegetables using traditional methods and seeds. This method of farming using natural resources has helped them to overcome perennial droughts and earn a livelihood.

ICRA sees SMP prices to be under pressure in H2 of current fiscal

In its latest report on the dairy industry, ratings agency ICRA Research has estimated Skimmed Milk Powder (SMP) prices to remain under pressure owing to glut situation with ample availability and lower institutional demand.

ICRA noted that owing to higher milk procurement and lower sales during the Covid-19 lockdown, the organised sector produced more SMP products during the first half of fiscal 2021 due to its high shelf-life.

IFFCO slashes NP fertiliser price by ₹50/bag

India’s largest fertiliser producer, IFFCO, on Wednesday announced it is reducing the price of NP 20:20:0:13 Ammonium Phosphate Sulphate fertilisers — used mainly for oilseed crops — by ₹50 from ₹975 from ₹925 per bag with immediate effect, including existing stocks.

The cost is reduced by ₹1,000 per tonne and this would help farmers to use sulphur, a key input nutrient for the soil, in sufficient quantities. This nutrient is very important for all type of oilseeds crops. The fertiliser helps improve quality of the crops and also promotes good growth, IFFCO said in a statement.
