Cabinet hikes MSP for Kharif crops for season 2022-23
The Cabinet has increased Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the Kharif Marketing Season 2022-23 on June 8. The approved prices are in accordance with the principle of keeping the MSPs at a level of at least 1.5 times of the all India weighted average cost of production.
The highest absolute increase in MSP over the previous year has been recommended for Sesamum (Rs 523/quintal), Moong (Rs 480/quintal), and Sunflower seed (Rs 385/quintal).
The MSP of common grade variety of paddy-the main kharif crop- has been increased by Rs 100 to Rs 2,040/quintal for the 2022-23 crop year from Rs 1,940 in the previous year. The support price of ‘A’ grade variety of paddy has been hiked to Rs 2,060 per quintal from Rs 1,960.
Assam planning to start Millet Mission, says state agri minister
Assam Minister for Agriculture Atul Bora stated that the Government is planning to start Millet Mission in the coming days.
With an aim to strengthen the Agro-Economy in Assam, the First State Level Conclave cum Exhibition of the Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) was held in Guwahati. Organised by Assam Agribusiness & Rural Transformation Project (APART), the conclave aims to facilitate a platform for the registered FPCs of the State.
Bora said that the Government is also planning to start Millet Mission in the coming days. Farmers today are also taking keen interest in diversification of crops, which is an added boost to the Agricultural Sector, the Minister stated. He also reiterated the need to mitigate the issue of middle men in supply chain. The State Government is considering to set up Milk Processing Plants and Pork Processing Plants to help the local youth and farmers, the Minister mentioned. Additionally, to ease the process of harvest, Combine Harvester will be distributed amongst the farmers in subsidized rate. The Minister along with other dignitaries launched the Agri Horticulture Newsletter.
Government hikes MSP for paddy and 13 other crops
The cabinet on Wednesday increased the minimum support price (MSP) for 14 crops for the 2022-23 kharif marketing season.
The highest absolute increase in minimum support price over the previous year has been recommended for sesamum (Rs 523/quintal), moong (Rs 480/quintal) and sunflower seeds (Rs 385/quintal).
The MSP for paddy has been increased by Rs 100 to Rs 2,040/quintal. Paddy is a major kharif crop for which sowing has already begun.
