CIFT launches seaweed-based nutraceuticals and sanitisers
Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT) has introduced seaweed-based nutraceuticals and sanitisers in the market. To commercialise the product, the Kochi based research organisation has tied up with Bodina Naturals Pvt Ltd, an ayurvedic manufacturing company.
CIFT Director C N Ravishankar said that seaweeds are good source of anti-oxidants, dietary fibre, essential amino acids, phytochemicals, vitamins, and minerals. The bioactive compounds present in seaweeds have scientifically proven health promoting properties like anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, dyslipidemia, bone-health, heart-health and mental-health benefits. It is found that seaweeds along Indian coastline have immense nutritional potential.
Spices exports increase 19% to 7 lt in H1; chilli tops charts
India’s spices exports grew 19 per cent in quantity in the first half of the current fiscal, touching 7,00,150 tonnnes thereby, surpassing the 5.86 lakh tonnes mark. The export value was penned at ₹12,274 crore.
Chilli, cumin, turmeric, coriander and ginger were the top five most-exported spices.
Chilli retained its position of being the largest exported spice with a shipment of 2,64,500 tonnes, fetching ₹3,605 crore. Cumin followed next with 1,53,000 tonnes valued at ₹2167.70 crore.
Samunnati launches Agri Elevate platform to connect farmers, FPOs, agri enterprises
Samunnati, a financial solutions provider for the agri sector, announced the launch of Agri Elevate, an ecosystem platform to offer services across the agri value chain to farmers, farmer producer organisation (FPOs) and agri enterprises.
The platform, essentially on the lines of business directory services, is aimed at helping FPOs and agri enterprises meet their information and service needs.
The key challenges faced by FPOs, as well as the ecosystem players trying to address their issues include information asymmetry, lack of access to network channels and financial intermediation, the company said in a statement.
