Indian Society for Spices to confer Sugandha Bharathi, Sugandhasree awards
The Indian Society for Spices (ISS) at the Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR) will give away Sugandha Bharathi and Sugandhasree awards during SYMSAC X 2021, an international symposium on Spices and Aromatic Crops.
PN Ravindran, renowned plant breeder, author and writer, best known for his contributions in the field of spices research, development and documentation has been selected for the Sugandha Bharathi award.
Draft National Fisheries Policy 2020: Fishermen voice concern over rising fuel cost
The spiralling fuel cost is a concern raised by the fishing community and they have highlighted the same as their comments in the draft of National Fisheries Policy 2020, urging the government to take effective steps to tide over the worsening situation.
Any national policy on fishing without addressing the problem of rising diesel prices will torpedo attempts to mitigate the expenses and streamline modern methods of fishing, the All Kerala Fishing Boat Operators Association said.
KSINC bags ₹2,950-crore order from US firm for deep sea fishing project
Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation (KSINC) has bagged one of the major work orders worth ₹2,950 crore from a US firm EMCC International for deep sea fishing.
The project, in which an MoU was singed between N Prasanth, Managing Director, KSINC, and Shiju Varghese, President, EMCC International, consist of building 400 deep sea fishing trawlers for the fishing communities and port development activities, among others.
Currently foreign trawlers are more in use in the State. This will be one of the largest foreign investment projects in the State and in the biggest work order in the history of KSINC, officials said.
