Vijaya Dairy plans ₹250-crore mega unit
Vijaya Dairy, promoted by Telangana State Dairy Development Cooperative Society, will set up a mega dairy at Mamidipally in Rangareddy district.
The dairy unit will come up in an extent of 32 acres. “We are going to spend ₹250 crore to develop the mega dairy unit. It will have all the modern equipment to process the milk and produce value-added products,” T Srinivasa Yadav, Telangana Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development, has said.
India’s support price for rice under WTO lens as US, EU question ‘peace clause’
India’s minimum support programme (MSP) for rice is under scrutiny at the World Trade Organisation with the US and the EU challenging the increase in subsidies beyond ceiling (de minimis) limits in the marketing year 2018-19.
Invocation of the ‘peace clause’ by India to justify the subsidies was also questioned by the opposing members who posed several queries on the various conditions, including notification requirements, that are to be met for the purpose as decided at the Bali Ministerial meet, a Geneva-based official told BusinessLine.
Cotton Corporation sees gradual pick-up in demand on easing lockdown
Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) said the prices of the fibre crop have bottomed out and expects the demand from the spinning mills to pick up gradually on easing of lockdown.
The State-run CCI, currently the biggest stockholder of cotton in the country, has sold about nine lakh bales over the past one month, said Chairman and Managing Director, PK Agarwal.
