IFFCO, other firms hike fertiliser prices citing costlier raw materials
Fertiliser companies have raised the prices of potash and phosphatic nutrients citing higher raw material prices.
Companies such as IFFCO, India Potash Ltd. and Paradeep Phosphates Ltd. have announced a hike or their intention to review prices. Farmers’ organisations have opposed the hike, saying it could increase their input costs and, in turn, lead to inflation.

Exports of farm products monitored by the Agriculture and Processed Foods Development Authority (Apeda) increased by a fifth to top $17.5 billion during the April-February period of the last fiscal compared with $14.5 billion in same period the previous fiscal. The exports growth is notwithstanding the supply disruptions caused by Covid-induced lockdown.
In rupee terms, exports grew 26 per cent to ₹1.30-lakh crore against ₹1.03-lakh crore in the same period last year.
AI for Agriculture Hackathon during April 7-9
The hackathon, by HUL and Google, in association with MyGov India, seeks to address water scarcity issues
Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) and Google, in association with MyGov India, the Government of India’s citizen engagement programme, on Thursday announced an AI for Agriculture Hackathon to address the issue of water scarcity in India.
The hackathon aims to encourage and find innovative solutions leveraging artificial intelligence to conserve freshwater usage, and to address water scarcity problems in India.
