National Food Security Mission – Farmers Field School (FFS)

Objective: The objective is to provide first-hand information to the farmers in their fields to enable them to evaluate, fine tune and adopt the best crop production and crop protection technologies suitable to their location and resources for higher production and productivity.

Target: Under this scheme, there will be one FFS for every 1,000 ha of area. One facilitator will be identified from the State Department of Agriculture who will run the school. There will be a season long training of the farmers in their fields for a single day in a week or fortnight, organized on the various aspects of crop production technologies of rice wheat and pulses. The financial assistance will be limited to Rs.17, 000/‐per training per FFS in the identified districts.
