Campco chocolate factory’s production up by 20% in 4 years
The Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative Ltd (Campco) is witnessing a steady growth in manufacturing of cocoa based products on rising demand from bulk consumers such as Amul.
Production at the multi-state co-operative’s chocolate factory in Puttur, Dakshina Kannada district has seen an increase of around 20.04 per cent in the last four years. Also, the production under Campco’s own brand also increased by 35.96 per cent during the period. The production at the chocolate factory — which was at 13,328.15 tonnes during 2016-17 — increased to 15,956.06 tonnes in 2019-20.
Kumaraswamy defends JDS’ stand, after supporting BJP’s land reforms Act
Janata Dal Secular’s (JDS) u-turn to support ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s Karnataka Land Reforms (Amendment) Act-2020 in the State Legislative Council has puzzled the political parties and farmers associations.
In addition to supporting the land amendment Act, the party came out in open to support for the Act. “Let those criticising me, scrutinise my pro-farmer stance and study our pro-farmer programmes. Being a person who is walking the path of Deve Gowda who hails from farming community and rose from the dust, both myself and JDS will not deceive the soil and sons of soil,” said JDS leader and former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy.
Oil palm sector gets ₹4,800-cr push from Telangana govt
Telangana has decided to give a big push to the palm oil sector by announcing a ₹4,800-crore project to promote the edible oil plantation in the State.
The State has set a target to have a coverage of eight lakh acres in the next few years as against the present acreage of only 38,000 acres.
