Rs 1,364 crore paid to over 20 lakh undeserving beneficiaries under PM-KISAN: RTI data

The Government has paid Rs 1,364 crore to 20.48 lakh undeserving beneficiaries under its ambitious PM-KISAN scheme, a reply to a Right to Information (RTI) query by the Union Agriculture Ministry reveals.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sammann Nidhi (PM-KISAN) was launched by the Centre in 2019 and under the scheme, an income support of Rs 6,000 per year in three equal installments is paid to small and marginal farmer families having combined land holding or ownership of up to 2 hectares.

Samunnati raises €10 million debt from FMO, Triodos

Agri-finance solution provider Samunnati has raised €10 million in debt from FMO – Entrepreneurial Bank and Triodos Fair Share Fund and Triodos Micorfinance Funds, two financial inclusion funds managed by Triodos Investment Management (Triodos IM).

FMO and Triodos IM have committed €5 million each in debt to Samunnati Financial Intermediation & Services Pvt Ltd, a non-banking financial company (NBFC) in India, to help the company expand financing and technical assistance to low-income farmers and enterprises throughout the agricultural value chain in India.

Undeterred by pandemic, Kerala NRIs venture into e-commerce space to sell seafood

Job loss or salary cuts during the pandemic situation have not deterred 30 gulf returnees from starting a new business venture in Kerala. Hailing from various parts of the State, these NRI’s has launched a chain of fish and meat retail stores called Dilmart.

In the first phase, they have opened five stores in Kottakkal in Malappuram, Chalakudy in Thrissur, Thumbaman in Patthanamthitta, Kundara in Kollam and Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram. Another ten will be opened in three months and to take the total number to 40 in one year, said Cyril Antony and Anil K Prasad, founder directors of the company. Through its e-commerce site, the chain has also started entertaining online orders for home deliveries.
