Campco to strengthen warehouse infrastructure in areca-growing regions

The Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative (Campco) Ltd is likely to get its first master godown by January 2021.

Addressing members of Campco on a virtual meeting platform as part of the Foundation Day of the cooperative, SR Satishchandra, President of Campco, said that the cooperative is strengthening its warehouse infrastructure at various places.

Work is in progress for the construction of a master godown at Kavu village in Dakshina Kannada district.

Restriction on use of glyphosate aimed to curb growing HTBT cotton cultivation, says farmers’ body

Shetkari Sanghatana (SS), the apex farmers’ body in Maharashtra, has opposed the Centre’s move to curb the use of glyphosate, a widely-used herbicide.

Its president Anil Ghanwat said many farmers across the country are cultivating HTBT cotton despite Centre’s ban and glyphosate is easily available and an affordable herbicide that the cotton farmers are using.

Telangana to revamp irrigation department for better coordination

Telangana will restructure the functioning of the irrigation department by bringing four divisions under single umbrella for faster response.

It is also work on an action plan to better utilise the huge inflows into the river network during the monsoons.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has instructed officials to prepare an action plan to make use of the river water and the huge infrastructure created through various irrigation projects and supply water to the agriculture sector and other requirements.
