VAIGA-2020 Starts in Kerala; Kerala CM to Inaugurate ‘Jeevani’ Project
The fourth edition of the VAIGA -2020 (Value Addition for Income Generation In Agriculture), an international workshop on Agro Processing and Value Addition has started in Kerala at Thekkinkad Ground from 4th January and will go on till 7th January. The workshop which will basically highlight the sustainable development through Agripreneurship will be inaugurated by the Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan. Farmers, farm scientists and entrepreneurs from across the country will participate in this big exhibition of agriculture. Moreover, VAIGA aimed at exploring possibility of processing and value addition of agriculture products. Agriculture Minister V.S. Sunil Kumar will also participate in the event.
FSSAI will Spend Rs 20 Crore to Procure Rapid Food Testing Kits & Devices
The Food Safety & Standards Authority of India or FSSAI will invest over Rs 20 crore to get rapid food testing kits or devices for state-level field officers across the country. So far, FSSAI has approved thirty rapid food testing kits as well as devices under the recently finalized regulations for sanction of these items & methods that intend to strengthen the food testing ecosystem in India.
But interestingly, only 2 out of 30 rapid kits & devices are indigenously manufactured while the rest are imported, despite several research and scientific institutions in India are engaged in development of such kits & devices.
