Need good quality cotton seeds to boost productivity: Piyush Goyal

To increase India’s cotton productivity, supply of good quality seeds is the need of the hour and requires some concrete action from related ministries on a war footing, Union Minister Piyush Goyal has said. He also stressed the need to introduce advanced technologies related to high-yielding cotton seeds and innovative agronomy, such as high-density planting systems, to enhance the productivity of cotton.

Goyal called upon the textile industry to self-regulate towards branding and certifying Indian cotton ‘Kasturi’ and assured that the government will support the initiative with funds matching the industry contribution.

The textiles minister held the third interactive meeting with the Textile Advisory Group (TAG) on Monday.

Leads Connect to set up ‘Agrani’ centres for farmers in UP

Leads Connect to offer advisory, financial services and market linkage to farmers and other stakeholders

Noida-based agritech firm Leads Connect Services plans to set up brick-and-mortar model ‘Agrani’ centres across Uttar Pradesh which will offer advisory, financial services and market linkage to the farmers and other stakeholders at their doorsteps.

Announcing the decision, the company also said it will provide precision farm advisory, financial and crop risk management to the agriculture community. “Leads Connect has created a unified platform called Agrani, which is a digital database of farmers that stakeholders can access through analytical dashboards. It has created two apps — Agrani for farmers and Agrani Saathi for farmer producer organisations (FPOs) and others,” a company statement said.

Krishify integrates with e-NAM’s Platform of Platforms

The start-up will offer expert advisory services to farmers

Krishify, a Gurugram-based agritech start-up platform, has integrated with the Platform of Platforms (PoPs) portal by the electronic National Agricultural Market (eNAM).

e-NAM, a unit of the Ministry of Agriculture, is a pan-India electronic trading portal which networks existing agricultural produce market committees’ (APMC) yards to create a unified national market for agrarian commodities for farmers, traders, and other intermediaries.

As a service provider, Krishify, a social networking platform for farmers in the country, will provide advisory services to farmers widening the reach beyond the one-crore user base on its network, a statement from the agtech firm said.
