EMPOWERMENT OF RURAL YOUTH-KEY HIGHLIGHTS

According to the National Sample Survey Organisation 2015-16, the MSME sector has created apporx. 11.10 crore employment opportunities. 

Mahatama Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) has had substantial impact on rural economy. During 2018-19, till December 3 2018, 165.78 crore labour days were generated with an average number of work days per household was 46.

NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP PROMOTION SCHEME

  • Launched on: 19th

 August 2016 • Objective: Providing Apprenticeship Training to 50 lakh youth by 2020.

  • Government of India shares 25% of prescribed stipend subject to a maximum of Rs. 1500 per month per apprentice with the employers.
  • Government of India also shares maximum Rs.7500 per fresher apprentice (without any formal trade training) as a cost of basic training with Basic Training Providers.
  • A portal www.apprenticesihip.gov.in is designed to facilitate easy processing of entire apprenticeship cycle.

START-UP VILLAGE ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMME 

  • Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP), the sub-scheme under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) was approved during 2015-16 and the enterprise formation started in 2017-18.
